Company History
NimbleGen Systems Inc. was founded in 1999 by Franco Cerrina, Fred Blattner and Michael Sussman. Over the next decade, NimbleGen raised $54M of venture capital. NimbleGen was acquired by Roche in 2007 for $272.5 million. Roche NimbleGen operated as a unit of Roche Applied Sciences within Roche Diagnostics, one of the two divisions of Hoffmann-La Roche. Following a change in strategy and restructuring in 2012, the Madison location was renamed from Roche NimbleGen to Roche Sequencing Solutions-Madison. In June 2018, Roche announced that it would close this facility by June 2020, starting in 2019.
