Company Profile
Founded in 1998, Lucigen Corporation focuses on developing new, more effective products and technologies for gene cloning, genomics, and protein expression. The company's patented CloneSmart® technology dramatically improves DNA cloning reliability and efficiency, allowing successful cloning of genes that have been impossible to clone with standard methods. The revolutionary BigEasy® Linear Cloning Kits were developed to clone the “unclonable.”
Lucigen’s exclusive Random Shear BAC Library Cloning Services provide complete, unbiased, gap-free genomic libraries, and are being used by genome researchers around the world. The company recently developed proprietary methods that achieve the ultimate goal in cloning: the ability to clone genes and the entire genome directly from a few isolated cells. This quantum-leap capability, called the NanoClone® technology, represents a billion-fold improvement in cloning efficiency as compared to standard methods.
Lucigen has introduced an initial group of novel enzymes —the first-ever thermostable, bacteriophage DNA polymerase, PyroPhage® 3173 DNA Polymerase, that promises more accurate and efficient DNA amplification (research, diagnostics, and drug discovery markets); and thermostable carbohydrases for greater yields in producing bioethanol for fuels, as well as for greater efficiency in many other industrial processes (textiles, food production, etc.)
